Sara pulls from her Carolina roots for art inspiration. After her studies at The College of Charleston, she headed to New York City where she enjoyed a 13 year career in advertising and public relations holding positions at Madison Square Garden, NY Times Magazine Group and Parents Magazine. Returning South with her husband and two children, she found a new creative outlet through painting. This was not surprising as she is the youngest of four sisters, all of whom are artistic in their own right.
Working out of her home studio in Charlotte, NC, her artwork reflects her love of the Carolinas and the surrouding East Coast. The Lowcountry holds a special place in her heart as both her mother and grandmother are from Charleston. She strives to capture the essence of the landscape in a direct manner that does not appear overworked and allows the natural beauty to shine.
She also enjoys painting abstract expressions where the focus on the play and movement of the paint becomes a time for experimentation and exploration.
“I want the viewer to feel an immediate sense of place, or perhaps nostalgia, and with that, hopefully a great memory comes attached.”
Her work can be found in Charlotte at Cotswold Marketplace and Shain Gallery Up & Coming Invitational Shows. Also in Kiawah Island at Holly & Brooks Freshfields
